CBSE Class 7th English Passage Based Question Chapter 1 Three Question

Paragraph 1:

The king wondered about three crucial questions: What is the right time to begin something? Which people should he listen to? and What is the most important thing for him to do? Various advisors offered conflicting answers. Some suggested the king should always act as needed or seek help from a council of wise men. Others claimed only magicians, who could foresee the future, could determine the right time. To the second question, opinions varied: counselors, priests, doctors, or soldiers were proposed as the most necessary people. Similarly, answers to the third question ranged from science to fighting to religious worship. Dissatisfied with the differing advice, the king turned to a wise hermit, hoping for clarity.

Questions and Answers:

  4. What activities were suggested as the most important for the king to focus on?

  5. Why did the king decide to seek advice from the hermit?
The king was dissatisfied with the conflicting answers from others and sought clarity from the wise hermit.

Paragraph

The king approached the hermit humbly, leaving behind his horse and royal attire. He found the hermit digging and offered to help, taking the spade from the old man. Despite repeating his questions, the hermit remained silent, allowing the king to continue digging. Hours passed, and as the king pressed again for answers, the hermit redirected his attention by mentioning someone approaching. The king realized wisdom could come from observing and acting in the present moment, rather than relying on abstract answers.

Paragraph 2:

The king saw a bearded man running towards him, bleeding from a stomach wound. The king and the hermit tended to his injuries, stopping the bleeding and giving him water. Together, they carried the man into the hut where he rested. The next morning, the man confessed that he was the king’s enemy, seeking revenge for his brother’s death and lost property. However, after the king saved his life, the man pledged loyalty, promising to serve him faithfully. The king, in turn, forgave him, promised to return his property, and arranged for his care.
